U.S. 23 Major Crimes Task Force
The U.S. 23 Major Crimes Task Force is a multijurisdictional law enforcement task force that serves the citizens of Ross, Fayette, Highland, and Hocking counties along with the Cities of Waverly and Circleville. The task force also provides drug enforcement services to the 195,521 residence of the communities we serve. The task force provides covert operations and interdiction services to the agencies we serve. The task force also provides a direct outreach program, working with the Post Overdose Response Team and other Quick Response Teams in the communities we serve. This approach to public services seeks to create and maintain strategic collaborations with its participating law enforcement agencies, community leaders, community stakeholders and members of the public.
PARTICIPATING AGENCIES

Major Dana Hutton, Commander
Major Dana Hutton is a 31-year veteran of law enforcement and a proud veteran of the United States Army. He currently serves as the Commander of the US 23 Major Crimes Task Force, officially sworn into the position in April 2025. Major Hutton brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and operational knowledge to the role, having dedicated his career to combating organized crime, narcotics trafficking, and violent criminal activity throughout Southern Ohio.
He retired from the Ohio State Highway Patrol after 27 years of honorable service. During his tenure, he served in various leadership capacities and concluded his career as a Lieutenant assigned to the Office of Criminal Investigations, Criminal Patrol Section, where he oversaw high-level criminal patrol operations and multijurisdictional task force initiatives. His efforts played a vital role in disrupting drug networks and reducing overdose deaths across the region.
Prior to his law enforcement career, Major Hutton served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer, where he developed a foundation of discipline, leadership, and tactical proficiency that continues to shape his approach to public safety and interagency collaboration.
Major Hutton is a graduate of the Ohio State University’s John Glenn Leadership Academy and is an alumnus of the Public Safety Leadership Academy (PSLA), Class 11. His commitment to professional development, strategic enforcement, and community impact continues to guide his mission as he leads the US 23 Major Crimes Task Force in its ongoing fight against major criminal enterprises.
